Fillings

Fillings are one of the most common procedures dentists perform. In fact, most people will need at least one filling in their lifetime. If you’re one of those people, make sure to get the proper care you need from the specialists at Esthetic Family Dentistry!

Why Would a Patient Need a Dental Filling?

A dental filling is a direct restoration used to repair a decayed or damaged tooth. It’s often the first line of defense in a compromised tooth. Severe cases of tooth decay can cause a large hole in the tooth or even complete destruction of it. A dental filling will restore the affected tooth to its normal shape and function.

What to Expect During the Procedure

During this procedure, your dentist will use a local anesthetic to numb the surrounding area of the affected tooth. Next, they’ll remove any damaged portions of the natural tooth with a low-speed drill before they fill the space with a filling material. Finally, your dentist will polish the filled tooth to remove extra material that may cause an uneven bite.

What Do We Use for Your Dental Fillings?

The most common materials we use for dental fillings are composite resins, or tooth-colored synthetic materials. Not only does this create a natural-looking outcome, but it also is shown to be longer-lasting. Below are a few other advantages to the materials we use at our practice:
